Security Upgrades

The Secured Upgrade uses innovations in security design to help improve composite door security features and reduce crime. Creating secure, safe and quality places for people to live.

What upgrades are available?

Research shows that products that have had the Security Upgrade features fitted can reduce criminal damage by 25% and burglary by 50%. By choosing the Secured Upgrade your door would be manufactured to tests that involve a much greater level of attack. Using more force ensures products are meeting a higher standard of security and provides vital assurance to the consumer.

Police approved upgrade
If anyone knows about security, it’s the Police. Our Secured by Design upgrade meets their national standard for safer homes. To meet the secure by design accreditation you will need to select a specific door and glass with an additional security chain.

Ultion Cylinder Upgrade
The Ultion cylinder is one of the most secure on the market – so much so in fact that no test has beaten it. The cylinder has passed all major British standards test for security without the need for cylinder protectors or extra secure door handles. These tests include the highest TS007 standard (3 star ) and the extended Sold Secure Diamond test, which is more rigorous and designed by the Master Locksmith Association.

Lock down mode
Ultion cylinders feature a ‘Lock Down Mode’ when it detects forced entry and activates an attack lock directly into the central cam. Even if the most determined intruder gets past Ultion’s two sacrificial sections he won’t get to the attack lock because it is protected deep inside a solid molybdenum core and secured with a dedicated retaining pin.

Even after an Ultion cylinder has thwarted an intruders attempt, the door can still operate the lock normally from inside – leaving then homeowner in complete control of their security.

Laminated glass upgrade
If security is a real concern, the option to upgrading to laminated glass should be considered. Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when subjected to impact. In the event of breaking, it is held in place by an interlayer, typically of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), between its two or more layers of glass.

The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large sharp pieces. This produces a characteristic “spider web” cracking pattern when the impact is not enough to completely pierce the glass. As the glass in a typical door is normally comprised of small panels this means that it will be extra secure, and almost impenetrable, as it will not smash like standard glass.
